This weekend’s Trifextra Challenge offers the opportunity to provide 33 words related to a photo. I chose this one:

My submission is titled “Dreams of Greatness:”

Should she unfurl her majestic wings for the hunt?
Her prey was not furred and fast-moving
but fried and dropped by hasty pedestrians.
Eagle or not, riding thermals in NYC was always fantastic.

    • Truly! Pigeons are second only to seagulls…having grown up on the Jersey shore, I have many a harrowing tale of the strong-willed gull in battle with the unknowing tourist…

  1. Sad but true about the fried food. I always find that disturbing when I see tourists tossing junk food to animals. But, who can resist those thermals – that’s the upside!

  2. Having grown up on the east coast of Canada, I can attest to the nastiness of seagulls and pigeons. I think it is a sad commentary on our society that they eat “human” left-behinds to the extent that they do. When we constantly plow their habitats under, they will find their own way to live, I suppose.
I have only ever read two pieces of your writing but, I am out of line to use the term, “gritty realism” to describe your style? Regardless of term, you can just, flat out, write! I enjoy your words immensely.

Say somethin', wouldya? Cool, thanks!
